You already hold a certification in coding, so you may be wondering why we would offer you ours... especially without having to take our exam!

PHIA firmly believes that holding certifications from more than one certifying body means that you want to expand your level of knowledge in this ever-changing field. By having the capability to utilize the educational tools offered by different organizations, you become invaluable to your employer and higher in demand if you are actively seeking a new position. The CCP credentials will become an added asset to your career.

What is different about our CCP credential?

PHIA educates their certified coders to be proficient in E/M Guidelines as well as all other aspects of coding. You can review the course outline on this site for a detailed description. Since the OIG is targeting this area, it is anticipated that certified coders who take advantage of our promotion will attain some of their CEU’s in a Chart Auditing workshop.

How many CEUs do I need?

PHIA requires 16 CEU's per year. We host workshops and seminars on a regular basis at an affordable cost. We also accept CEU’s from other reputable organizations as well as some from areas such as compliance, HIPAA and OSHA. These areas all include issues that have some impact on your job as a Coder or Biller, therefore, we feel they should be accepted as continuing education. PHIA offers many cost effective ways of obtaining CEU’s, including our annual CEU Roundtable Conference in October. Many CEU’s can be obtained FREE.

What do I have to do to get my Coding Certification?

Simply submit the individual application or the "Grandfather In" application with your payment of $95 by fax (502-473-8807) or mail to PHIA, 4010 Dupont Circle, Suite 418, Louisville, Kentucky 40207. You can also purchase your membership here through our secure website.

In order to "Grandfather In", your membership through the other credentialing organization must be current. To Prove this, a copy of your membership card from the other credentialing organization must be submitted along with your application. This must be currrent.
